Fly Fishing at Bay Flats Lodge
The middle Texas coast offers some of the finest fly-fishing and sight casting opportunities for redfish and speckled trout in the world, and Bay Flats Lodge is situated at the heart of it all... Our very own Capt. Rick Hammond specializes in fly-fishing, and has years of experience fishing the Texas coast with flies. No matter your experience level, Rick can help you become a better fly-caster and show you techniques for spotting and catching redfish on the flats. For tackle, we recommend you bring a 7-10 weight rod with matching weight forward floating line and 10-20 lb. fluorocarbon leaders. If you are new to fly-fishing or don't have your own tackle, Rick will provide all of the necessary rods, reels, flies and tackle to get you started right. Rick ties many of his own fly patterns and always has a large selection available for use. Most of our fly-fishing is done by locating fish from the boat, and then wade fishing towards them on the shallow flats.
